When the Word of God is interpreted on the basis of man's fallible, theoretical views then the possibility of our being seduced away from the truth is highly probable.
For example: Many Bible scholars and pastors of churches do not believe in the literal six day creation of all things. If the creation days is believed to be millions of years then the message of the truth of God's Word or the foundation is destroyed because it says that death, suffering, thorns and hateful things were before the fall of man.
The synchronization of the sun, moon and stars in their created habitat have always been the same. So, the twenty-four hour day is still the same and when God spoke after each day of creation he concluded by saying, "the evening and the morning were the first day....second day.....third day...." and so on. God created the universe, the earth, the sun, the moon and stars, the planets all plant and animal life and then made man male and female within six ordinary days. If we would read Genesis one with real logic we would all have to admit that we could never believe in the idea of "millions of years."
If we accept the non-literal view of creation we allow "outside the Bible influences" and not from the words of the Bible; which erodes the foundation of God's pure truth.
Psalm 11:3 If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?
Many today are affected by the way they interpret the creation account because of many "outside the Bible influences."
Martin Luther that great reformation leader once said this, "The days of creation were ordinary days in length. We must understand that these days were actual days (veros dies), contrary to the opinion of the Holy Fathers. Whenever we observe that the opinions of the Fathers disagree with Scripture, we reverently bear with them and acknowledge them to be our elders. Nevertheless, we do not depart from the authority of Scripture for their sake."
1Th 2:13 ΒΆ For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.
To receive the Word of God is to receive it not as the word of men but as it is in truth. When God's word is compromised by man's fallible interpretations there is great danger of believing a lie and becoming damned for eternity. 2Th 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
O, that we would desire with a real spiritual hunger to know Christ who is all truth. Today, right now commit yourself to letting nothing separate you or hinder you from the truth of God's Holy Word.
